For those history buffs…
Did you know that Milledgeville was the first capital of Georgia? Founded in 1803, our great city was actually the capital for more than 60 years before it was moved to Atlanta during the reconstruction of Georgia. Despite the fact that General William T. Sherman marched through the town and left fire and destruction in his path during the Civil War, buildings remain intact. Milledgeville, which was named after governor John Milledge, was the first capital of the Old South and was the inspiration behind the name Old Capital Dentistry. The fact that Governor Milledge donated land to the University of Georgia was not lost on Dr. Collins, who is an alum of UGA. Go Dawgs!
Dr. Bob Vedder founded our practice back in 1983 and Dr. Collins became the owner of the practice in 2018.
Dr. Bob Vedder founded our practice back in 1983. He was well loved by his patients and staff due to his charming personality and the quality dentistry he offered. Dr. Chad Collins, another skilled dentist, joined the practice in 2009. They continued to grow the practice to the point where they moved to a new building just three years later. Dr. Collins became the owner of the practice in 2018, where he gave the practice its current name of Old Capital Dentistry, in honor of the wonderful history of the great city of Milledgeville. Dr. Matthew Carithers and Dr. Melissa C. Farr joined the team in 2021 and they, along with the other amazing staff, are dedicated to providing the best in dental care. Whether it’s cleaning, restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, dental implants or Invisalign, know that you (and your teeth!) are in excellent hands at Old Capital Dentistry. Old Capital Dentistry has developed an outstanding reputation in Milledgeville for not only providing top-notch dental care using the newest and most advanced technology, but also for compassionate patient care.
